About Me
👋 Hello, I’m Moises Coronel
I’m transitioning from the field of social work into Human Language Technology (HLT). Currently, I’m completing my master’s degree in Human Language Technology, where I’m building on a diverse professional background to pursue a career that blends language, data, and technology.
With a growing command of programming and machine learning tools, I aim to contribute to projects that use speech and language technologies to foster understanding—between individuals, across cultures, and within systems.
🛠️ Career Journey
My career has taken a non-linear path, rooted in communication and people-centered work.
- I began working in public education which culminated in working as a third-grade teacher, then transitioned into social services, serving in roles from practitioner to program supervisor.
- Originally, I planned to pursue communication research with a linguistics degree, but shifted into social work due to opportunity and community needs.
- Now, with a clearer sense of purpose, I’ve returned to that passion through the lens of technology.
These roles taught me initiative, resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and adapting to a changing landscape on the go. All skills I apply to the tech world.

🎓 Current Internship at XRI Global Inc.
As a graduate intern at XRI Global, I work with low-resource languages, gathering and processing audio data for machine translation tasks. This hands-on experience has exposed me to real-world NLP pipeline challenges, from schema design to data quality assessment.
In March 2025, I had the privilege of attending the LT4All Conference at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, where I deepened my understanding of both the technology and the human side of language access.
🎯 Goals & Vision
My short-term goal is to join a position in Human Language Technology where I can apply my skills to build impactful, user-centered tools.
Long term, I plan on being able to be a disemminator of language technology to social work fields in order to ease the pressure and increase the detail of reporting tools used by professionals in the private and public sectors.
I’m particularly drawn to applications in education and healthcare, two fields where communication is vital and where technology can amplify equity and understanding.
At its core, my drive to work in HLT is fueled by a belief that language is power, and language technology pushes the boundaries of what we can share, learn, and how we can connect.
Thank you for visiting. I’m always open to collaboration, mentorship, and opportunities to grow in this evolving and exciting space.
